here's a nice reliable PvE build:
Ranger/Monk
marksmanship-9,3,1
wildnerness survival-11,1
expertise-8,1
fire magic-8
use a vampiric recurve bow of fortitude, [wiki]Elswyth's Recurve Bow[/wiki]
kindle arrows
dual shot
poison arrow {E}
savage shot
distracting shot
troll unguent
conjure flame
resurrection signet
use radiant (added energy) armor.
runes - superior marksmanship, superior vigor, minor expertise, minor wilderness survival, attunement
with this build, you will deal an extra 42 armor-ignoring damage with each shot, 84 with dual shot, while interrupting, spreading poison, and a nice self-heal.
i dont know what you mean by "solo" so i added in a rez sig. if you plan to "solo" the game alone, good luck with that. but if ur gonna "solo" with henchies bring along the rez.
P.S.- It is spelled Prophecies.

One problem Xeones - Flail's a nightfall skill. Also, the +dmg from Kindle Arows is fire damage, not armour ignoring. Only the vamp from Elswyth's ignores armour. Read the Wind, however, is armour-ignoring - and with a Marksmanship that high, I'd prefer it.
Now, as for a solo-build for a ranger... It depends on where you are soloing.
Try asking for whatever specific place you wanna solo - FoW solo builds are different to Totem Axe solo builds.

whoops about flail, but i am sure that kindle arrows is armor ignoring. then forget flail, go ranger/monk, bring purge conditions. also, drop rez sig for rebirth. read the wind is unnessecary with a recurve bow.

Nope - its armour-dependant Fire damage - try it out on the 100 AL and 60 AL targets at the Isle of the Nameless. Also, I prefer RtW over Kindle in PvE 'cuz monsters with a level above 20 will take reduced damage from Kindle, whereas RtW's damage is constant. However I prefer Apply Poison to both of them.

Try the sticky in the farming section, and the farming thread in general for solo ranger builds: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10038096
For armor, Druid's is generally preferred for the energy, or you can use element-specific armor with Greater Conflagaration/Winter and/or the various Mantras or Elemental Resistance, depending on the area.
